Questions
Common questions
Is SQLBeat really free for businesses?
Yes. You can use SQLBeat in any organization, including to monitor production systems, on any number of servers, at no cost.
What can't I do with it?
You can't sell it. SQLBeat is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 with the Commons Clause, which means you may not sell SQLBeat, or a product or service whose value comes mainly from SQLBeat, such as hosting it or charging for SQLBeat support. Using it to run your own business is fine.
Can I change the code?
Yes. Read it, change it and extend it however you need. If you write something others would use, we'd welcome a pull request.
Do I need a retainer to use SQLBeat?
No. SQLBeat is complete without one, and the community and the code itself answer most questions. The retainer is for teams that want a direct line to us.
What isn't covered by the retainer?
The retainer covers SQLBeat itself. It isn't a DBA service: we don't administer your databases, tune your queries or watch your alerts for you, and there's no after-hours emergency line.
What if we need more than 4 hours in a month?
Tell us. Unused hours don't carry over, but if a project needs more time, such as a large rollout or an upgrade, we'll agree a fixed price for it up front.
How do I reach support?
